Rear Shock Absorbers Help

Hi everyone,

I took my 2011 Ex in for service this morning. SA just called to tell me the rear shock absorbers "are gone and are leaking pretty badly" (his words).

He quoted me $850 for the shocks alone PLUS installation.

I haven't felt anything from the rear end of the car to indicate that the shocks would be bad. My car has only 32,000 miles in it (I don't drive a lot). Is this something that's expected at this point? Is it that expensive?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

How is white paint on the bottom plastic trim holding out?

For what it's worth, Rock Auto has both Motorcraft and Monroes for < 75 a piece for the rears and $75 or less for the fronts. That speaks volumes to the stealer's price point...

Wow. The Limited didn't have electronic suspension, did it?

Autozone shows the shocks alone for $93 each. Did he quote you the shocks and spring combo? At full dealer pricing, that might hit $425 each. :dunno
