I just bought a 99 explorer limited and the rear window wipers don't work. If anybody has any ideas let me know. Thanks

My 02 did the same, and I read some posts on here about the same problem. The general solution was to slam the back door a few times and see what happens. It worked for me:)

I second that. Mine does the same thing when the tailgate isnt closed all the way. Just try slamming it shut and you should be good to go!

I had the motor replaced on my 2000. It's about $100 I think for a new (not refurbished) one from the dealer. To be honest though, I can't stand that mine doesn't have an intermittant. It is just slow and fast but the rain doesn't accumulate on the back window as fast.

On a first gen, it could just be the wiper motor. I had a problem on my old '93 where there was grease from the gears in the motor that got stuck on the contacts causing the motor not to go on. After I cleaned off all the contacts, it worked like a charm. Try giving that a shot...it's not hard to get to the motor and could be an easy fix.
