I'm working on a '72 El Dorado 500 with a Turbo Hyrdomatic 3-speed automatic transmission.
Reverse gear works, but the forward gears are blown. Moves slowly and slugishly at high revs as if 3rd gear is partially engaging.
Anyone work on one of these trannys? I'm wondering if this is just a case of some blown gaskets that can be fixed with the tranny still bolted up. Or does this need to be dropped and rebuilt?
What's involved in rebuilding it, special tools? I'm thinking a '72 3-speed can't be too complicated or need any special tools.
