ok after almost getting stuck twice in the snow yesterday fishing I'd like to rebuild my rear track lock.....I need to change the gear oil anyway because had some serious gear whine from the back ever since it started geting cold..

These are identical to an 8.8 stang one right?

How exactly do you take it apart to rebuild the clutches and add another one for extra bite?...has anyone ever done a write up on this?

I know how to take the carrier out...thats not a problem....

any suggestions let me know....

thanks!

It is the same as the stang, just make sure you get 31 spline. If you go through all that trouble, are you sure you want to just rebuild it vs a full locker while it's out? What's the cost of a rebuild kit vs an open carrier and a lockrite?

a rebuild kit is only like 60 bux...

I don't wana do a spool or anything like that...its my daily driver for business...

A carrier would run me between 30-40 bux and I have no idea how much a lockrite would cost...

It seems like a good idea in theory but does it actually work?

It would work but the lockrite is about $200 so I guess you are still ahead. I have not done it myself but my building partner did the added clutch in his CJ and it acts like it's locked about all the time. That's why I susgested alternatives to rebuilding again.

Where are you getting the rebuild kit. We could not find the right clutches for mine. I am told that there are like 3 different clutches used lock rite.
