Hello, my '00 XLT 4door currently has two 12" Pioneer subs in a plain jane sealed box and its punishing my rear glass. It shifts it to the right, and makes it contact the frame which scratches the paint.

I've heard that a box facing downward would sound great and hopefully not batter the rear hatch as much. Has anyone ever seen a box like this? I don't have the ingenuity to build one myself.

Another idea I'm kicking around is selling the box w/ subs and getting one 12" Kicker Solobaric since id like to regain some cargo space. Does anyone know if the sound good facing sideways? I know forward facing subs usually don't sound good.

Sorry for all the questions, but any tiny tidbit of advice would go a long way. Thanks

I had a box with the subs facing down in my 05 yukon and it sounded great. First question is what kind of amp do you have? Heres some manufatures that make good subs. Ive personally had good experience with these 3 so its Just my opinion

1.)JL Audio
2.)Diamond Audio
3.)Hertz Audio

Im going to go with the JL audio stealth box so it will be out of the way and there will be no sliding around!

Oh and the sub faces sideways ! so no rear glass abuse! In my 97 blazer i had, i had 2 Diamond Audio TDX sub and i blew the hatch 3 times and finally had to replace the glass!

The amp is an old school Rockford Fosgate Punch Power 451s, mounted behind the drivers rear seat.

Im getting older and deafer so I don't need tons of bass, but I can never go back to stock. Id prefer finding an enclosure that faces down since it would be cheaper than buying a new sub.

If I could find plans i could probably make one, im just having a hard time visualizing it.

i got 2 JL Audio WX And they sound clean! on a 1000 Watt Amp

Are they DVC'S like the old W6's? My friend had three 12's in a fullsize Bronco and I thinks that's where I lost a lot of hearing

What kind of enclosure? Does it rattle the glass?

I have the same problem in my 94. I have 2 12" Kennwoods with 1000 watt amp and 2 10" Kenwoods with a 500 wat amp...both bridged. The rattle is so bad that i had to buy the whole new weather stripping for the rear glass. It dosent rattle or scratch the paint but still moves a little. I had to put foam padding behind the plastic cover on the hatch and now the rear door handle rattels, the window wiper rattels and something is ratteling in the hatch itself. Rule of thumb with bass.....keep one or both front windows cracked down when you have the system way up. Sounds better, not muffeld, and it wont cause as much rattel.

Have one built at your local stereo shop it shouldnt be that much i think i paid 150 for the guy to build my box
