Hi Folks,
While still half asleep on a Sunday morning and backing out of the garage I managed to catch my right side wing mirror. The mirror is cracked and the housing cracked in a few places.

Spent my coffee time searching for replacements and wasn't surprised - unfortunately :( The cost of replacing the entire housing is in the $500 (CAD) range which is crazy. I would prefer to do this, rather than the just the glass, so am now looking for wreckers or similar that may have one. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

S

Well that's refreshing. You're one of the very few that didn't blame it on the "better half".;)
I believe most auto recycling places have a network that they could use to locate certain items. Being that you are in Toronto there could be one of those places that might have what you are looking for. I found this site but not knowing what kind of mirror features you have I couldn't continue the search. http://www.carcone.com/

Places like Pick-a-Part are usually better priced. However, when I searched PicNSave they didn't have any newer Explorers in their inventory.

I've been really lucky with Craigslist, though. There always seems to be just what I'm looking for.

Try www.car-parts.com (also have an app)

It's a website that will allow you to search for any part for all scrap yards in Canada and the USA.

I recently used it to buy the police steelies center caps and lugs.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I got super lucky last night, I found a mirror unit on kijiji and managed to pick it up and fit it last night too. $120 all in!!! :)

It was a different color but this is just the top part of the mirror (the glossy bit) so a few seconds with a pry tool to switch them over and voila!
Super happy.
