Hey! Someone brought to my attention that there is a redliner and a speed regulator in the later model Explorers. I have a 2000 XLT 4.0 SOHC and I was wondering howd you get rid of this. Also - I have Flowmasters 40 Series on my explorer and if you rev it, it "bubbles". Is this just cause of the quick pulse of gas being fed to the engine or is that the redliner (if there even is one)? Thanks everyone

my 01 sport has a rev limiter at 3K in park or neutral. Fuel cutoff at about 96mph. i dont know about a revlimiter in drive, since i hit the fuel cutoff before i can max out the rpms.
check the groupbuy section for getting an apten performance chip. it removes these limits.

An uneven exhaust tone while reving in P or N is normal for most vehicles with performance mufflers. Any car I've ever driven or been in with a Flowmaster or Magnaflow has done this. It's just the way the gases flow.
