Hi, I just brought home a new (to me) 97 explorer 5.0. I got an awesome deal on it and i was checking things out tonight in the garage and I noticed a constant ticking coming from the block of relays on the driver's side fender. there is a "tick" about every 3-5 seconds and doesn't go away with the doors locked, car running, lights on/off. I tried every combination. You can feel it by touching the relays as well. What could this be? I didn't really look into that much, but thought maybe this is something that somebody has encountered.

thanks!

I haven't encountered that problem yet, but I would pull the offending relay, see what quits working, then go from there. Sounds like a short in the system.

I let the truck sit for about an hour, went back to the garage and it was fine. I did clean the engine a little bit and maybe something got wet. At least that is what I'm blaming for now!
