Most remote starts will allow you to configure a trigger, usually 2 pulses off your lock signal. Setting it up that way leaves you with the original remote to trigger a remote start.

is there a plug n play type of remote start i can purchase and is cheap?

There is no such thing as a plug and play starter, lol.
You'll have to buy one and wire it into the car.

as i read more about this explorer im finding out more.. i read something about a module that it has. pats or something like that.

I have something very similar to that in my truck.
Haven't had any problems with it. Very good system.

PATs is the antitheft system.
Long story short, you either have to bypass the pats module with a special module, or do like most people do and stick a spare key in your steering column. :P

lol is it safe to have a key in there?? how about if someone finds it?

It's IN your steering column. You can break the key off and just leave the top plastic part with the chip in it.

The only way for them to find it, is take apart the plastic around the steering wheel and dig for it..

thats what im doing i ordered 2 extra keys last night from ebay they are on there way. so how do i wire the remote start? and when the car starts will the doors unlock?

what do you guys think about the VIPER 5901? someone is selling it to me for 100 bucks new.. is it any good?

Viper 5901 for $100? That's a great deal. Go for it.

It's about the same as most cars on your 01.
If you've installed on European cars, it's easier than that.
