Ok so who has repacked the LSD culches on the 8.8 Ford Trac Loc diff on the Explorers?
Much to it?, this is what I was thinking what do you think..
Is it possible to just
1.remove the axle shaft C-clips and pull the axles out a bit,
2. Remove the Pre load spring
3. Remove the diff pinion shaft lock bolt and diff pinion shaft
4. Remove the spider gears or side gears (Whatever you what to call em)
5. Remove old friction disks.
6. Install new friction disk, shim, friction, steel, friction, steel, friction, steel, friction, and side gear for better/ stronger LSD action.
7. Reinstall Spider gears and preload spring, Pinion shaft and locking bolt
8. Reinstall axle shafts and C-clips
9. Replace cover and fill with oil.
10. crack a beer.
What do you think can this be done leaving the diff Centre in the case, or do I need to pull it down on the bench?
Cheers.
