99' Ranger
Hey guys, having probs and looking for a little assistance if anyone might have any suggestions, I would appreciate it immensely. I have a 99' Ranger 2.5L 5 speed. My timing belt broke recently so I bought a Hayne's manual and replaced it. It started right up but it ran pretty rough, and would eventually die if I didn't work the accelerator. It seemed to run better when the A/C was on, but it would really fluctuate idling down nearly dying, then rev up. It always idled up/down/up/down back and forth feverishly. So I drove a few miles down interstate and back hoping to blow out the soot but not much better. I took apart, realigned timing marks, they were just off, and put back together. Well, power steering pump and A/ C bracket fell over and put small hole in radiator, not so big I couldn't finish and try starting again to see how it ran. Once again, started right up but still reving up and down and die without working accelerator, and it finally started chugging down and i was working the throttle to keep it going but it died. When I turn it over now it just sits there and turns over but won't start again. I think it's fuel related now, I'm 99 percent sure timing marks are as close as they can be. But I didn't get a chance to drive it to blow out all the crud before it died. I'm really stumped now and desperately seeking some good advice and I thank you in advance for any assistance anyone might provide. Thanks again, Chad :feedback:
