Hi, my wife wrecked passenger side front door and after I asked quote for fixing those huge dents, it was cheaper replace whole door, so I sourced complete door with matching color in great condition. But now I cannot control that new door's window nor mirror from drivers controls... Window control works from the door itself. Now wondering if there is any some kind of coding/pairing required to make door accepted by onboard computer? New door is from 2017 Explorer and mine is 2016.

Thanks,
Henri

Was it from a 2017 Limited and were all the electrical connections the same as for the old door?

Yeah closer inspection shows they changed the wiring from 2016 to 2017 model year, because door has different window regulator motor and old door has ECU which 2017 door doesn't have. Must be typical cost reduction change they do. Also mirror has completely different colors in wiring which explains those new wires in 2017 harness. Looks they either moved ECU to main body side which explains more wires thru connector. So newer door is dummier.

I made strong assumption that everything is same and didn't check harness nor opened the door until now.. Luckily they changed pinout so no electrical damage cannot happen.

Attached pic to compare diff inside doors 2016 vs 2017

Next going to swap window regulator and wiring harness from old door to newer frame. Not shown in these pictures, but window motor is different and so is the connector. All other connectors to lock, button, mirror, sensor are same.
