I changed out the electric shift t-case to a rebuilt manual one about 3 years ago and got a quart or so of ATF out at that time, didn't think much of it being a 10 year old truck, figured it was normal seepage.
The old t-case never leaked or needed a top up, neither has the new one so I assumed it was the transmission.
I believe the output seal is the culprit for my increasingly bad ATF leak, which seems to be coming from my adapter housing.
Any one done one of these with the transmission in the truck? Anything odd I should expect?
I haven't check the Haynes manual yet as to the procedure, and which end of the adapter to separate, I'm assuming pulling the transmission side will provide better access, as well as not having to remove the shift linkage, it was a pain to get the eccentric on it adjusted right (it was over ranging in low range).
The new seal is is about 1.25" deep between the lips, not like a conventional oil seal, I hope the old one pulls out OK...
TIA
