My son's horn and cruise don't work. His air bag light is also flashing. From what I have read it sounds like the clock spring is bad. He is in the NAVY and is at sea right now. I want to replace the clock spring before he gets back from sea. What are the chances of setting off the air bag after everything is put back together and the battery is reconnected? Do I have to pull the steering wheel to replace the clock spring? Does anyone know how much the dealer charges o replace the clock spring? ;)

You have little chance of setting off the air bag. the steering wheel has to come off. the dealer might charge around $90. Should take around 1 hour to do.

I have done zillions or these.
It is pretty easy.
Disconect the battery, and let it sit for fifteen mineuts.
Two 8mm behind the air bag and off it comes ( I wish they ALL were that easy )
Make sure the steering wheel is pointing 100% dead on straight ahead, and remove the steering wheel using a steering wheel puller.
It is either a phillips screw or a T20 torx to remove the clock spring.
There will be a few connectors under the knee bolster crafty hands can get to them but removing the knee bolster is easy.
Put the clock spring in place. DO NOT REMOVE THE YELLOW CENTERING CLIP. Mind which end is up.
Attach the steering wheel and bolt in place being mindful
not to pinch any wires. Now remove the yellow clip.
Reinstal the bag.
You have got it.
