Please excuse the duplicate post this board has way too many catagories! (LOL) AND it won't delete the 1 I put in the wrong place. ANYWAY...I am trying to avoid paying a $50 deductable on an extended warranty..The remotes for my 99' Explorer Sport ceased to function recently. The key pad and auto lock still work fine. I have replaced both remote's batteries and checked all fuses. The system WILL enter program mode (after 8 key cycles) and confirm with the lock/unlock cycle BUT seems to refuse to acknowledge the signal from either remote. It acts as though it just isn't getting the signal from them. Anybody seen this before? I am wondering if there is an antenae connection to the RKE module or perhaps a wire or something that commonly comes loose? Again it is under warrenty BUT if I can avoid paying a $50 deductable and spending an entire day off at the dealer over this issue I will be enternally grateful. Suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance!

Well thanks for all the sugestions?

I would start with going to your dealer and have them test your key FOBs to see if they are operational. It shouldn't take them more than 15 seconds. They should have a little ROTUNDRA hand held key FOB tester. It also shouldn't cost you anything. If they are good, it's possible that your Explorer "LOST" it's internal key FOB programming for some unknown reason. Which would require them hooking up to the computer and reprograming it. Good Luck...

Thanks for the reply! Looks like I'm stuck going to the dealer:( . Oh well, I guess that's why I got the extended warrenty!

My old car had keyless problems too. For some reason, the keyless would only work when the weather was dry outside. Humidity would cause the keyless to not work. Who knows why that happened. I'd say goto the dealer and see what they say.

Yeah, Now this is getting weird. The fobs worked yesterday and then quit again today...I guess a trip to the dealer for an exorcism is called for. LOL
