I bought a 1998 eddie bower explorer on 2/7/2012. I lost control and rolled it a week later. I have been so stressed out over this because I spent every cent of my taxes on it! I was planning on swapping out every single part onto another body but the body I just bought is missing alot of parts and was wondering if its possible to lift the body off the rolled ex and place the body I just bought on it? I they are both 1998s and 4x4s. The body I just bought has only 97000 miles on it but is missing the motor, transmission, transfer case and alot of other parts. I do have all the parts I need on my rolled ex but would it be easier to swap bodies or just swap out piece by piece? Please let me know whats the easiest and least stressful way to get my ex going again... I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you

Having body swap trouble already... Any help is appreciated!

Ok. So i got the rolled body almost completely off the chassis and the good body is completely off just waiting for the rolled body to be completely removed.
I am running into a few electrical issues that concern me. The first is... The rolled truck is a Eddie bower edition with all the options and my replacement body is a XLT model. Same year, almost the same exact VIN number except the last 6 of the VIN are different. And the rolled truck is a Canadian vehicle. Does the Canadian explorer have anything different with the electrical system compared to the US model besides emission crap the Canadians put in their models? The Canadian dash also has a white tube that runs by the AC controls that the XLT doesn't. Any ideas?

Sounds like you're seeing the ambient air return line (white hose) that helps control the Auto temp control in the Eddie. The XLT doesn't have it... If you had a message center, you may have wiring issues with that as well.

XLT to XLT or Eddie to Eddie would have been easier I think...

Hey Phili, I moved your thread to a forum where you will get more looks, and more help if you need it.
I also slightly renamed it for the same reasons, hope that's cool with you.

how would i get the message cnter back in there? I put my eddie center console in because it had the extra plugs and did plug right into the main plug with the bolt. But we will see how it goes after all the engine plugs are back in...
The xlt also has different plugs for the air conditioning under the hood by the firewall... How would i get my radio and ac controls to work if their different plugs? The VINs are the exact same, except for the last 6. so how would it be that much different?

The VIN doesn't really mean much as far as electrical goes. The last numbers are the actual serial number for the car which is why they're different, the other digits that are "the same" only show brand, model, type, chassis, assembly plant, engine, and year.

Radio controls you should be able to figure out the wiring, its typically not that difficult with a little testing and a little guessing. I'm not sure about the AC controls though.

Thanks alot everyone! I paid $600 to have the body swap done and it just needs to be tidyd up to get it back to looking good! It runs and drives, just interior and some plugs need to be spliced to make the ac work! Thanks again for helping me make up my mind! XLT isnt as nice as the eddie bower but it will have to do for now!
