- 2003 Ranger XLT 4.0L
For the last month, I have had this mystery problem with my 2003 Ford Ranger. I have had it to the Ford garage, and my personal mechanic, and neither found a solution, but the Ford garage does want to keep looking and charging me $50+/hr. I have the 4.0L V6. Auto w/ 4x4. Nothing too special for mods. Flowmaster duals, k&n cold air intake, little bigger tires, etc. When I am driving down the road, between 1900rpms and 2300rpms, I get a vibration in the gas pedal, and a little bit of noise from what seems under the hood. It is not a squealing noise, nor a knock, but its hard to explain. Maybe between a grind and squeal? It only does it in that rpm range. It has NEVER done it any other time. While I am having problems with the infamous too lean codes 171 & 174, I do not believe the 2 are connected, but I am not a mechanic, and my knowledge on Ford's is minimal, as I have drove Chevy's ever since I got my license the long long 6 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. For details, it does it ALL the time, doesnt matter if its cold, hot, raining, etc. I just want to solve this problem, as it is very annoying.
