Help,
I was losing refrigerant in my 1997 XLT about every 3 weeks. Upon viewing these posts, I realized that my evaporator was the problem. It has a foam rubber blanket that holds in moisture. Moisture retention + steel = rust. I peeled back part of the blanket and see a lot of rust and some oil (from the a/c system I presume). Anyways, is it something I can do on my own? I would like to save the $500 being asked for it. Thanks for any replys on "how to's" or "just take it in the shop you cheap b*st*rd. Later.

Opps,
My mistake and it's a big one. I meant accumulator... not evaporator. Big difference. Anyways, the accumulator is rusted out, how difficult is it for a fairly novice person to replace it?

Thanks John C
