My friend's '92 X is in the shop with a driver's side upper coil spring support broken loose from the frame. His daughter reported "funny noises" and he saw that the body on the driver's side was sagging by 6-8 inches. The spring support separated from the frame, apparently due to rust.
I took a look at the front suspension of my 92 and saw a lot of rust on the driver's side spring and support but practically no rust on the passenger's side. I plan to take a closer look and try to somehow arrest the rust.
Aside from the handling issues if the spring breaks loose, the brake lines will also be stressed and possibly broken.
If you live anywhere in the rust belt, take a close look at the spring mounts.
