I'll look into it.

Tnx,
Sandy

Tnx, again!

NIGHTRANGER5.0,

Tnx agin for the info about the Hi-idle and also about your GER Trans.

I have e-mailed GER and they are putting together info about a trans for my Ranger.

How is your working out?
Is it holding up on thte trails ?

Which one did you buy, did you ask GER's opinion about your chose?

So many questions, so little time ...

tnx again.

GER

It's been serving daily driving duties since last october.

Everything is seemingly going well .

I've got the sreet/strip.

I haven't wheeled with this AOD/d-20 combo yet but with my driving style on the street i think it'll hold up good. There's quite a few people out there running stock AOD's so i'm not really worried about it at all. GER claims it will hold 550 hp.

If you want a HARD shifting AOD you'll get exactly that.

Mine is a NON-lockup which has to do with the 2 peice shaft in the AOD. To make it a non-lockup you swap that 2 peice shaft for a 1 peice. WHich was what i had to do for the d-20.

GER has a "trans tech" as well as a "converter tech" they will help you decide.

You have to choose the converter wisely or performance will suffer.

Take into account gears, tire size, engine modifications. They all are part of the equation when choosing the propper converter.

Bottom line is this trans kicks the **** out of the C4 i used to have! I love it.

Good luck

OverDrive

So how do you control the OD ?
I thought it was the locking up of the torque converter that gave you the OD ?
I guess I am not familiar with the AODs enough to even know about this.

The AOD has 3 fwd positions on the gear selector. 1-2/3-od

2nd and 3rd is piggy backed. Meaning the only control you have over 2nd is how hard you stand on the throttle (T.V. cable).

There's a company called Lentech. They build a valve body that gives you full control and 4 fwd positions on the shifter.

The 2/3 is the only drawback, but it's not bad.

I'm VERY pleased.

Tnx for the input Nightranger.

I am going to buy an AOD but not sure who from, the valve body thing sounds good too.

Again, tnx,

valve body

That's the one thing i'd like to do to mine, swap for the lentech valve body. I'm sure you pay hefty for it also.

When i had the C4 and wrong converter (the trans shop got me a new converter for a '75, didn't quite match up with my '93 motor) it wasn't to bad but it would never spin the tires from a takeoff no matter how much throttle.

Now with the AOD and the 11" 2400 stall i have to be carefull around town. If i take off with any more then say 1/4 throttle the 32's will spin!
