I will be soon doing a SAS swap and was looking for input on what axles people are using out there. I'm looking for different options here, ease of instalation, strenth, look...
I was thinking early bronco D44, or heep cherokee, what else has been used?
Thanks in advance.

What size tire are you planning on running? Locker or no locker?

I'll be running 33/12.50's prolly a locker in the back open in the front. I run lockers in both ends of my 71 early bronco and was busting front axle U joints left and right. Don't want that problem again. Besides this is just a truck to take the family out on the trails in not a rock monkey like my bronco...

coils? leafs? coil overs? list your goals maybe. I am no sas expert or even close to it but I am sure you will get more help if you list what you want to do.

Just a quick guess, but if you only want to run 33s, a Jeep HP D30 is a great choice. Strong enough for those tires, correct width, and same bolt pattern.

I was thinking the D30 too. I was going to run coil and the early bronco style radius arm set-up. maintaining the stock upper spring housings and relocating the rear radius arm brackets. I will also be doing a wristed arm on it. What gear options (from factory) did the D30 out of a jeep cherokee (?) come with???

If your only going to run 33's and its not going to be a rock monkey, why would you want to spend all the cash for a SAS? Just curious is all.

i am curoius about this too. a set of manual hubs on the front of your D35TTB would be plenty strong enough to run 33's.

Maybe getting rid of the limited IFS and putting an axle in that will actually flex is the goal. He is going for a wristed arm setup, which will out flex ANY TTB setup out there.

33s may end up being a little small when said and done, but it will probably work out fine. Go with some 3.5" EB coils up front.

I have no idea about the factory gears. My YJ D30 came with 3.55s (or 3.50s) I think.

While it will not be a rock monkey it will see some hard trails and knowing me once I'm at a trail and it starts to get hard I will more than likly just say what the hell and go...lol...
I hate the week ass TTB front end and lack of flex...Ball joints are a pain in the ass to keep replacing. The brakes are marginal at best (it's a 91 remember) and there is the cool factor... ... do you need any more reasons???
