I have a 99 Explorer Manual 5pd with the older OHV 4.0; around 90K.
I'm having a rough, high idle, and I can't find any vaccum leaks anywhere.
It idles HOT around 1000 and when coming to a stop it usually comes down to around 1500--stops. Then drops to 1000, maybee a little less then comes back ant sits at 1000.

I wanted to try some seafoam, and see if it will help with the rough idle like it claims.

My questions is -- After pulling the hose to the PCV valve, do you dump the Seafoam down the PCV valve incert? Or let the hose you disconnected suck in the seafoam?

I'd assume have it suck, and get it in the intake, but asking can't hurt :p:

I did it threw the brake booster, let the vacuum suck it in. If you have not done the 0012m kit yet you should look into doing it. I did the kit then Seafoam a few days later and it made a huge differance. Idles perfect even when cold and has a quicker throttle responce.

what is the 0012m kit?

Ok yeah, I was about to ask you about the 0012m kit thing, but sounds like that has been covered withen the last few hours :)

I Just did the Seafoam through the PCV hose that connects to the intake.
It spewed out a considerable amount of smoke :) but..

I still have a very high idle. 1000, it's a kick in the sack.

Is there anything that you could recomend checking or inspecting in efforts to drop down the idle where it should be?

Have you tried resetting (by leaving the battery cable off for 15 minutes) the computer, and let it re-learn?

Don't know for sure it would help, but it's a cheap thing to try :)

Yessir, I have done that.

(screwing around with IAC set off a code, so i dissconnected the battery for a while and reset the codes)

But i still idle high. :(

I checked and cleaned both the IAC as well as the MAF.

I'm hunting down info on the TPS now.
