2000 north face
Hi guys id like to pick your brains if i could.
Its a 2000 north face explorer 60,000 miles. Brake warning light came on and pedal went to the floor hand brake flappy. Checked fluid needed topping so i did, light stayed on pedal still went to the floor hand brake better. Checked fluid again needed more, light went out this time pedal a little better. Light came on again brakes got worse again fluid level had dropped a bit again and i saw some smoke!! from under rear passenger side wheel arch . I noticed front discs were hot to touch but rear were not. Hope this is not too confusing but could do with some help as im a bit rubbish when it comes to this stuff.
Cheers guys.

Sounds like you have a broken brake line, thereby losing all your fluid. Once lost you have air in the lines, which gives the squishy pedal after refilling. Get a helper, have them pump the brakes while you look underneath each wheel, one at a time starting in the front. Make sure you have fluid in the resevior for this test.

Yeah was thinking that myself was thinking the smoke over the back wheel is the fluid leaking on some thing hot

Have someone step on the pedal while you look for a leak. Definitely is a leak.
