Good day to everyone. I have Explorer 2010 that I have replaced the ECM and now I got the original ECM fixed and re-installed. When I re-installed the original ECM, the keys were not working because they were programmed to work with the replacement ECM. So I had them programmed from one of the car repair shop and now my Original ECm is back on track. The issue now is that I have service RSC light on with the ABS and anti skid lights on. the person who programmed the keys said since this is the original ECM then this issue will disappear after a while but now it is more than a week and it is still there. When I hooked up the OBD reader, it showed fault code B-2900-20 Vin mismatch and this was also suggested by a real help forum members (ruddy and Bazz270 ) who really helpped me with the ECM issue.

I hope that the above introduction is clear. My question is, what is the proper way to resolve this issue (original ECM and Correct VIN is bieng read by OBD). is there anything or suggestion, mind you that now I'm slowly getting to learn the forscan software. If anyone had similar issue please share your findings. I would really appreciate it

I just ran into that issue on my 08 Explorer. I was getting traction control lights and the brakes were engaging at times, as well as an infrequent RSC warning alarm that would reset when the car was restarted. It rarely lit up. I replaced both front hub bearings and sensors. Almost immediately the RSC warning light came on, and at this point would come on when the car was started and stay on. I replaced the ABS control module. I thought everything would be ok now, but two days after I got her back, I'm driving 25mph on my street and the traction warning light kicks on and I feel some braking again. However, no RSC yet. This has been such an issue for so long.
Best I can answer your question based on my experience with the issue, is that the VIN mismatch is solved by reprogramming the ABS control module to update the VIN. After I replaced my ABSCM, I got the VIN error as well, paid the $80 to have it programmed, and the code stopped. But the other issue remains for me.

Thank you tchamos for the answer. My concern is actually not the $80 as it is also the same amount will cost me. The issue is the person who will program it located far from where I live and he does not program it right away he says you have to leave your car and hopefully you can pick it up the next day. It might need more. I cant leave my car undetermined period of time as I depend on it and I will need to rent a car and that is another whole story

I hear ya. To my understanding programming is the only way to clear the VIN error. I should know because I tried everything else. Here's how mine went. The code said it was the module. So I went through partsgeek for a refurb for a $250 or something. It gave me the VIN error (I wasn't aware of all this yet). I tried looking into a new one, but they're $400 or more and there is a national backorder until October I was told. I then pulled mine and sent it out to be fixed by a company in GA, but they sent it back and said it's unrepairable due to hardware failure. My last resort? I got one from a junkyard that had a warranty, plugged it in to make sure it wasn't going to kick the RSC error out, then had it programmed. What a nightmare. As we speak I'm trying to figure out if this is some other sensor issue I missed, or something I haven't thought of yet. I love my truck, it's an 08 and only has 110k on the engine, but it's starting to feel like a lemon.

One thing that sounds different from our two issues, if I'm reading your problem right, is that I don't have any codes or dashboard errors with the "new" abs module installed. I'm only getting occasional skid lights and I have no idea why.

What kind of scanner do you use?there is zero chance to get rsc dash errors without DTC recorded.

Since the old Ford trucks diagnistics are super easy and stregth forward with the right tools (Forscan ,IDS,Elmconfig,Launch,Autel etc.)

You dont have to pay nothing to anyone.use HSCAN capable adapter + Forscan.

Unless you need as-build code manual change,99% of reprogramming actions are able to be performed by forscan.

Use Forscan forum FAQ to get instructions.
Modules reprogramming are forscan streight forward operation, just grab your own quality forscan adapter and extended license and follow the program instructions.

Dont forget to save as-build configuration file before u changing something inside.

Dont use MSCAN only capable adapters or cheap pocket scan tools ,it is good for nothing.

Good luck

I fixed the RSC and code with a new ABS module. My issue is that even now without any codes or dash issues I'm still getting traction lights and brake activity at times. The programming I had done fixed the VIN mismatch error with the "new" (junkyard tested) ABS module.
