It appears there is several new board members in the Bay area hunkering to go on a run (and several older ones, that have new toys to show off..)

I'd be up, except I'm out of town from Nov 17 to Nov 26; how about a quick run down to hollister, on Dec 2 or Dec 3?

Anyone? Or any other ideas? A snow run up in the Tahoe/Sierras?

Well That might be doable, but not sure. I still have to take the truck to Salinas and have the locker and gears put in. It depends on when I can get my hands on that damn ARB.

Yup, I can do that.... be gentle on me though, I've only got a stock truck and haven't taken if off-road yet.....

gee tom, are we thinkin alike???? (thats scary!) anyway dec 2nd sounds great.....i,m up for hollister or if anyone wants to play in the snow we could arrange that run also. as for your stock explorer,,,,no hollister is great for stock or modified trucks and yes this group is the best you can run with ,i know first hand how theses guys are.now ya may get teased for having a lowered truck but then agian,SO WHAT it,s all about the fun. take care guys and yes i,m in!!!!!!

I would like to go also

Hey I have a 91 EB explorer. I would like to go also. I never been off roading. I am very anxious to go, but i have a stock truck. Will that be alright?

Tigger, You are right.
How about Clear Creek?

darn tom, great time to plan a trip.......J/K.well i,m open to almost anything.clear creek sounds fine.the area i have in mind would be to much trouble to get to unless you got a chain saw and patients.how about if everyone is free maybe mid dec?.and if not well do another jan run to hollister.as for all reading this post and have a stock explorer,DON,T WORRY!!!!! i have had two stock exploders and they did great, maybe not over picnic size rocks or anything like that, but otherwise there tough straight out of the factory.

Hey Tom, take 'em up to the snow where the sleds belong. You can pass for a young Santa, Ho Ho Ho. J/K- Hope you guys have a great time.

Tom -

That sounds great, what's the date and location?

Khoa Vo.

KVO, no one has really picked a date.. So, let me throw this out then:

Saturday, Dec 2, Clear Creek run.

Meet at 9am, in Hollister's McDonalds. There is a gas station just down hwy 25 from it, and I'll be fueling up there as we head out.

Please note - it's best have to tow hooks and decent tires on your truck. If you don't have them, we will probably park it and let you ride with someone on the tougher sections.

Comments?

Saturday Dec 2 is OK by me, but I do have a couple of questions:

1. Where is Clear Creek?
2. What sort of terrain is it? Snowy? Muddy? dry?
3. Where is the Hollister McDonalds?
4. Would these tow hooks be standard on a '96 Explorer? If not then I don't have them...
5. What do you call 'decent' tires? Mine are pretty new but I'm not sure if they are 'decent'....

sounds great tom, clear creek was fun. tigger, i had a stock 91 climb up a rutted hill, that all the big dogs climbed. i do have dunlop mud rovers, that i know helped! like tom says if you aren,t ready or somthin, one of us could give ya a ride. dec 2 meet at hollister mcd,s me and kia are in:). shall i bring a video camera? tom ,please bring that tape and i,ll continue on it with our adventures.

I'll check to see if I can take the day off from changing diapers to go play with ya'll. For now, I'll assume I can go!!!

Time to see some old faces and meet new ones.

Ray - will you have your lockers in by that time to join the run?

May be we all should meet earlier (8:00 AM) at the McDonalds since the drive to Clear Creek is a good 1.5 hrs. away. More time to play since the days are shorter now.

Tigger -
1. Where is Clear Creek? - It's 30 miles NW of Coalinga, and run by the Bureau of Land Management. Dead Link Removed
2. What sort of terrain is it? Snowy? Muddy? dry? - Muddy and dry depending on weather.
3. Where is the Hollister McDonalds? - It's right on the main street, you can't miss it after entering Hollister.
4. Would these tow hooks be standard on a '96 Explorer? If not then I don't have them... - You can make a visual inspection on your Explorer to see if you have them, in the front, they would be visible if you have them. You can use your tow hitch as a rear tow point.
5. What do you call 'decent' tires? Mine are pretty new but I'm not sure if they are 'decent'.... - Something with good tread, preferrably AT or MT tires. What do you have on?

It sounds like you already have this pretty much planned, but does anyone want to consider the North Bay? I have been to South Cow Mountain once, and it was a lot of fun. I'm up here in Santa Rosa, and Cow Mtn is about an hour north of me near Ukiah.

I would like to go on a run, but Clear Creek is way too far for me.

Hey tdavis. I do not know where Clear Creek is. If we go can i meet you somewhere in Oakland and I'll follow you or something?

Hey guys, that sounds like you guys will have a great time. I wish I could go.:(

Hey is it alright if my friend came along to the creek creak trip on december 2? He has a defender 90. And another might come?

Sure, I don't think anyone would mind. I'm sure once they see Tom Davis' truck and Ray Lobato's truck in actions, they will be in awe. They won't belittle Explorers anymore, as I'm sure they have. If they are not locked up, they may not be able to go places where Tom and Ray could go, imagine that!
