On your 91, it taps into a few wires and a vacuum line I believe. It basically changes the shift signals going to the tranny. They are very easy to install. As for positions, it will have 0, 1, and 2. Most people leave theirs on 1 and sometimes go to 2 for more performance. Hard to imagine, but sometimes shifts can feel too firm to be comfortable all the time.

I have both the electronic and an internal shift kit. Because the internal kit firms up shifts already, I keep my electric one on 0 most of the time.

so is it even worth it and when would u need to use it lets say in position 2.

When racing pretty much.

The $30 gizmo is definately worth it.

alright sounds good and hey do u think u could help me out with the kkm decision. Ive looked at it and alls it is , is a round air filter is it worth the 90 bucks?

It is better than your drop-in KN. Or you can just try to cut up your stock airbox if you have a round stock filter.

alright i think im gonna have ot go with that too and one more thing will it make my exhaust sound better?

Possibly. It will definately make your motor sound better.

sorry for asking all these questions i just want my x to be in good shape, would a new cat converter do anything

I have the MAC Products intake. I bought it because I like the chrome tube. Some say it makes the air warm which lessens performance but I'm not worried about the 1 or 2 hp it may reduce since I'm already getting 8-14 more anyway. A matter of preference, really.

Some people on this forum have a high flow cat so I imagine it will help.

About the shift kit: I'm about to get my tranny serviced and I'm thinking of buying the B&M internal kit. Of course, the one for my X is $59.99 but seems like it would be a good investment. I'm actually thinking of doing the service myself but not sure yet.

Unless your stock cats are bad, don't upgrade. Of course if they are bad the aftermarket one will help (and be cheaper than a factory replacement).
