Hey fellow Explorers,

I bought a carbon-fiber shift knob (to match my dash kit), and the knob doesn't fit! The lever is too thick. It does seem like a few inches lower, the lever is thin enough for it to work...

So my concern is should I risk taking a hacksaw and sawing away at the lever? If it works I'd actually like the look of a shorter "shift-lever", but I guess I'm looking for some reassurance of whether or not I should even try. Any suggestions?

Jorge-What about putting in a spacer to cover up the exposed threads. I've been thinking of changing my shift knob too. Since its something that doesn't directly effect my Explorer's performance, I always put it on the back burner.

I bought a B&M T handle a while ago and ran into the same problem. When I pulled off the know there weren't any threads. I came up with a very cheap solution. I tapped out the inside of the shift lever and bought a bolt to fit that size and another bolt that fit the shift knob. I welded the two bolts together then mounted the knob with it. hope this helps.
