Just had the tranny rebuilt 2 months ago. Is this solenoid something they should have fixed with the repair?

The reason I ask is that this is the 7th time my Explorer has been back to see these guys since the rebuild. :fire: All different reasons. Is it time for me to ask for my money back or is this just something that happens.

The reason I know about the failure is I am getting a CEL so I bought a EEC-IV code reader and it is the code I get on the KOEO test. Code 566.

My truck is a 94 Explorer Sport, V-6 4.0, 4WD.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

The typical repair does not rebuild the VB or replace solenoids. BUT the fact you have a problem in the warranty period makes this THEIR problem, if you ask me.

According to my thread on EEC-IV codes: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160035 it is your 3-4 (overdrive) solenoid. I would go back to them, and have them replace both the overdrive, and TCC solenoids. They will tell you that only one is bad, but considering that both are probably the same age, why have the vehicle out of service, lose time from work, and take a chance of this failure a few months after they only replace one of them?

Glacier and Brooklyn, thanks for your replies.

The reason I ask if they should pay for it is after the first rebuild, the torque converter shattered. (Their words) That was the first return to them, been back many more times for different tranny issues.

Would that cause this to happen? I am transmission stupid so your input is very helpful. I don’t want to take advantage of them and yelp and scream about who should pay for it but, if they should have done it in the first place, they should have.

Is this something I can do in my driveway? I have limited tools (house fire a year ago lost all my tools and manuals) to work with. Standard home owners set of wrenches and screw drivers replaced so far.

Want to brag on you Brooklyn. Have used many of you responses to fix other issues on my truck and each have worked like a charm. Keep up the good work and helping out those of us that really know just enough to get into trouble.

Thanks again guys.
