I just read something on Wikipedia that said the t-case was made to shift on the fly. Is that true? So if i go from snow/ice to pavement I donot have to stop to shift. I always have stoped but i would be so much easier to shift on the fly. And is it better to stop to shift anyway?

You can shift to 4-Hi at any speed. You need to be stopped with the tranny in N and your foot on the clutch (if you have one) to shift into 4-Lo.

You can shift out of 4-hi into 2wd at any speed, but your auto hubs will remain engaged until you reverse to unlock them. This is fine for a while. It will only detract a little from your gas millage, so do it when convenient (ie don't stop on the interstate to do it, lol).

x2.. do it when its convenient. whenever you have the chance though, back up at least 10ft to unlock the auto hubs. it will reduce wear on the hubs.
