Just purchased the car, motor turns over freely but won't start. Could that be the timing chain or what other problems could it be. It's an 1996 - 1997 Ford Explorer.

Fuel pump works fine

There is heaps of fuel pumping from the fuel pump. After taking the tappet cover off have found a new timing chain has been fitted at the front. When turning it over it back fire a little, could this be the timing c hain out by one tooth or could there be a sensor gone.
