Hello one and all. I'm new here and obviously this is my first post. I just bought a 99 Explorer with 171k on it. I got it for a ridiculously cheap price from a dealer but now I know why - probable timing chain tensioner problem which they didn't disclose. I don't know enough to fix it myself as I"m a little mechanicly-challenged except for some simple things. I did expect something to be wrong due to the cheap price so I"m hoping my mechanic can keep it reasonable. Anyway, I'm happy to find an Explorer community to be part of.

Welcome to this forum! You might be able to get it fixed under the lemon law since it's a drive train issue. Was it from a dealership or a private party?
