Well we did a semi-ghetto job on my brackets to make the front bumper raise with the new BL but the bumper jiggles now and with my hella's on its definatly lame.

The other problem is it has slowly started to turn and not look straight anymore.

Also in order to install the bumper the way we did I had to ditch my OEM fog light mounts. I REALLY miss having them.

does anyone know the Part number for the ranger 2" front bumper brackets? Also do they fit the X? I've heard they do.

Thanks guys!

TTT Anyone get brackets from PA?

Unfortunately, I think b/c of your '98 bumper design, you have to leave the fogs off... maybe i'm mistaken though. My '99 bumper works fine, so you could always upgrade to the cooler looking '99-01 bumper anyway :)

Digger ordered the PA brackets for his 2" BL, I fabricated my own out of 1/4" thick steel and they seem to be holding fine

I need to replace my front bumper anyway due to it being slightly bent from the previous owner.

I'd love to do a newer bumper with the round fogs. I could get a much better set of driving/fog lights in there. Also isn't the approch angle better with the 99+ bumpers?

you could also upgrade to a 98+ mountaineer bumper if you want better fogs because the bulb is a 9006 headlight bulb. I have silverstars in mine and if i wanted to i could drive at night with just those on because they are so bright. The brackets for the actual bumper are the same as the 99+ explorer bumper i think too

The mounty bumpers look really good on street trucks. I just think I'd rip it off...

Anyone here done a bumper swap from 97-98 to 99+?

Thanks for the replys guys. Local wheelin shops around here know jack crap about explorers.
