I have been experiencing this for awhile now and I just want to know if it is normal or is something bad or going bad.

I do have a stiff ass suspension thanks to the TT, AAL and Shackles but this is just odd. When I go over a speed bump, not only does the truck bounce up and down after the bump, it also rocks side to side pretty bad. Is this normal?

I was thinking it could be my shocks but I have no clue how to test shocks or maybe just by the information given, they are bad?

Mine does the same thing 2!!! i really dont know if thats normal!!!!!:us:

Test your shocks by going to each corner of the truck, pushing down firmly and releasing. The truck should bounce no more than about twice. Any more that that and your shocks are probably going bad.

And what do you mean by side to side? Is it rocking back and forth, or is the rear physically being thrown around side to side?

It feels like the body of the truck is rocking back and forth.

I have no clue what "rear physically being thrown around side to side" really means.

Okay, well it doesn't matter now, I know what you are talking about.

Shocks do play a large part in the sway control, however are your sway bars and end links still attached and functioning? The sway bar links are known to fail, making your truck more tipsy.

On the other hand the whole thing is strange, you say you notice it on speed bumps. Are you hitting the bumps square on? I just wonder why it is even rocking to start with. If you hit a speed bump straight on, you should just be bouncing up and down, not side to side.

Exactly. I am hitting them straight on but getting this rocking thing. It seems weird. I think my sway bar stuff is all hooked up fine, I have never messed with it personally. I am going to look on Alldata and see if I can figure out how to diagnose the sway bar and end links. Thanks for the suggestion.

edit: I looked on all data and looked on my truck and it has the sway bar and links all hooked up and they look good and functioning.

since you installed an AAL...make sure your center pins in your leaf springs didnt back off at all.

I have the same thing. I have actually replaced my swaybar links before too. I just worked on my Ex today, so I know everything is good, but mine does the side-to-side thing over speed bumps too. I did notice that it sways more when the rear axle hits the bump than the front...
Well, I think it's fine myself :dunno:

I would say shocks. Mine does that too. Especially when I go over railroad tracks. I have yet to replace mine due to finances. But I'm hoping when I do, it will make a world of difference. I wonder, do bad bushings play a big roll in that as well?❓❓

I'm with bluepaint, better shocks.

My Ex was doing that too.
First thing I fixed was a missing bush on the front sway bar link, that stopped some of the rock.
Next thing I did was fit Konis on the back now the rock is almost entirely gone.

I'm wondering if the 5th shock on the back has anything to do with it.

I think it may be because of the lift.
