Simple Amp question from an Idoit LOL

I want to get 2 boxes loaded with twin 12" speakers to go on either side of the cargo area. I wan to thump with out breaking the glass. LOL what size amp should I get? My firend got one for his ranger and the guy at the store sold him a $1500 buck set up that blows the speakers out when he turns it up over half way. Also is there a way to run your normal radio and tape deck thru the amp? My friend can only run his cd player thru his amp and it is a good brand name amp.

There are a lot of factors in your decision.

What sort of subs will you be running..

Yes you can run a factory stereo through and amp with the proper connections, however, in my opinion it sounds like crap. An Explorer can take a lot without shattering the glass, but seriously consider dynomatting the thing as there are a lot of parts that like to vibrate. do a search around the audio forum to see what others have done. There are some intelegent people on here that can help you pick an amp once you decide what speaker setup you want.
