What's a good exhaust to help my 2006 Ford Explorer V8 get a nice rumble? I don't want it extremely loud but I enjoy a deep growl at idle and 8 cylinder symphony when I step on the gas. Any suggestions? Also how much does one normally cost to install? Not looking for a performance boost, just an acoustic enhancement ;)

I am rocking a Jones Full Boar cat back exhaust. Good rumble of course if you don't want loud this might not be the best choice. Upon cold start up you can't hear anyone outside the vehicle until it is warmed up. Sound drops a little but it is still loud. I will add though my 4.6l sounds better than one with a Flowmaster or cheap bolt on mufflers from Pepboys like Magnaflow.

Not sure what system would be best for ya, but I get the feeling you ride. Car people don't normally say "slip on" :D

Haha yeah, takes 2 minutes to replace the muffler on my bike. The truck..... I drove around without a muffler for 3 months and finally took it to a muffler shop. :D
IMHO, don't use youtube clips. I ended up not getting the flowmaster super 40 because I thought it'd be to loud. Heard JD's and now I regret it. (although his truck is pretty far from stock :D )

Did you get the flowmaster 50 series? My goal is to make it as loud as possible without limiting my resale market. Although my last truck had dual exhaust and I swear that sealed the deal when the guy test drove it haha :D

I kinda liked the no muffler sound, but after a road trip I bought a Thrush turbo muffler at advanced auto. Louder than stock, but not by much :( still has a slight rumble at idle, but hardly audible over the fan

BTW, I have a 1997 4.0 ohv
