My Explorer is slipping when shifting to 2nd & 3rd. Just today my O/D light began flashing. Once it starts blinking I can't get it off without turning off the car. Then when I restart it's off for a while and sometimes comes back on again.

I read on another site that it could be the Shift Solenoid. Does anyone know where this is located? Has anyone else had this problem and can offer some advice?

Thanks, Jill

you need to get ur vehicle scanned for codes.. the blinking O/D light stores a code which will guide u as to whats going on in ur transmission.

the "flare" from 2nd to 3rd is common - search the message board for it and you should find many discussion threads on this topic.

might try the speed sensor it is about $20 at autozone. that is what was wrong with mine.

I've also experienced this, intermittenly. Only happen for less than about 2 days, when my codes were read, it was 2-3 incorrect gear shift ratio or something along those lines. Hasn't returned since, knock on wood !

Codes Pulled

Ok I got my codes pulled and this is what they said:

P0732 - Incorrect Gear 2 Ratio
P0733 - Incorrect Gear 3 Ratio

Any help?

Pictures

I had someone drop the pan and take pictures...can anyone identify the shift seloniods or the band that may be broken? I can email them...

thanks.
