from a 2-3 mile drive when i get home the engine is extremely hot and im not sure what it is but i think its where the spark plugs are on the driver side. that whole block was so hot you could fry an egg on it, literally. i just put in a new radiator, changed oil, new air filter, new thermostat, new spark plugs, new serpentine belt, new oil filter and it is still doing this. whats the problem??????

On my Subaru I had a problem with some smoking. In that case it was a bad valve cover gasket. I can't say that that is your problem, but it's a good place to check.

Mine occasionally smokes too but mine is from leaking valve cover gaskets. How hot is it actually getting? What does the gauge show?

probably valve cover gaskets, the oil leaks out onto the exhaust manifold and burns.

i took it into my auto class shop today and that was what we were thinking was going on and that the bolts or whatever were't on good. snoboarder-how does the 40 serires sound on your explorer cause we have the same model and i just ordered a 40 series flow last night
