Small Crack In Gas Neck..CEL

I have a very small crack in my gas neck thats causing my CEL to come on. My mechanic is telling me its about a 500$ repair. Its really not a major issue. Its a very tiny crack at the top of the neck. Its just a pain going to Auto Zone and shutting off the light every 1,000 miles. Anyway around this?

Buy a new neck from 1AAuto.com ($100), and spend about 30 minutes replacing it. It's easy... A few bolts, 2 hose clamps, pull old one out, put new one in, bolt up and done. All done from the rear wheel well, no real need to remove the rear tire, but lifting the truck helps.
