I have a very small leak in my hydraulic clutch in my 94 Ranger. The leak is so small the there is NO RESIDUE or leak spots on the driveway. I do have to put a little DOT3 Brake fluid in the clutch master cyl. every so often. I don't drive the truck very much and have to pump the clutch up every time I go to drive it.

I have to think that there is a commercial product on the market that will slow or stop such small leaks.

Anybody out there have any ideas?

I have done some research and found Lucas "Booster and Stop Leak" and "Seallube". The Seallube says don't put it in a brake system so I have to wonder since the clutch uses DOT3 brake fluid as its hydraulic fluid.

Any ideas? I had the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing replaced less than 500 miles ago. No, they didn't replace the slave. I don't know why but they didn't.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.....

Thanks ;)

The leak could be from the clutch master cylinder, especially if it's original and never been changed. It could also be from the clutch hose/line or one of the connectors, either at the master or slave cylinder end.

You can check if the slave is leaking using a flashlight and getting under the truck, removing the plastic plug on the driver's side of the transmission, and looking around in there with the light. If you see brake fluid everywhere or on the bottom of the housing, you should have the slave cylinder replaced. You might take it back to the place you had the clutch replaced at and have them redo the job correctly, putting in a new slave cylinder this time. If they replaced the throwout bearing, they should have replaced the slave cylinder with it. Maybe they just bought the clutch kit, and used the clutch/pressure plate and throwout bearing since that's all that comes in the kit and they didn't know about the necessity of replacing a slave cylinder.

Do NOT use ANY kind of "stop leak" product in the clutch or brake system, or any system for that matter. Replace the leaking part, whether it's the master, slave, or the line in between.
