When I bought my 98 XLT the keyless fob that came with it was pretty much toast except for the circuit board. Buttons were gona battery dead. I bought a new housing and rubber button deal off ebay and a battery and the remote is back up and running like new.
It locks / unlocks the car just fine except the driver's side door. You can see the lock on the inside go down and pop back up. On a side note - The power locks work just fine when the button is pushed on the door panel.
I have also disabled automatic locks when the vehicle is put into gear. Has anyone heard of anything like this? It almost acts as a security measure so you don't lock yourself out but then again I can't get out of my vehicle, hit my lock button and fully secure my vehicle.
Not a HUGE deal but any feedback or experience with this is well appreciated.
^ This is the type of remote I have.
