Go to a slavage yard, most if not all yards have a garrantee on thier parts. So if the used one leaks you return it for another or get your money back.
Just make sure you flush the entire system really good with some AC flush, and then use a vacuum pump to pump out all the air in the system. Then look on your hood sticker and add in the required amount of oil. it is crucial to do all this to make sure there is no moisture or foreign matter in the lines.
You may also want to disassemble and clean the orifice to make sure it is not clogged or blocked in any way.

Oh one other thing, It is also handy to have dual gauges (high and low side) so you can properly diagnose any flow or pump problems.
i'm actually gonna try and get a hold of a few of the people i used to work with at the truck stop and see if i can come in when they are working third shift and used an ac machine that way i can vacuum the system before i charge it, plus then i can get free freon
