So I'd like to start making my X unique..

I'm not looking to go with some crazy huge lift or anything. I've been reading and looking at online stores that offer small body/suspension lifts and I'm wondering if there is really any reason for me to lift the truck. I plan on getting (the biggest) 30's when the treads start getting low. It has 245's currently and I like the stance. I can't justify spending a grand for a suspension lift, and I think a simple 2" body lift would give me a better stance for when I get bigger tires. I've been working on imports for several years now so I'm still trying to transition over to the truck scene. Thanks for any input/criticism.

I don't think you'll have any reason to lift if you're only putting 30's on. I want to say 31's will fit with either no or little trimming of the inner liners or whatever.

for an idea here is a picture of my truck when it had a 1.5 inch suspension lift (shackles and extended coils) and 31s.

honestly, even with that much of a lift, the 31s are too small. they fit on my truck at stock height perfectly. hope this helps.

I have two inches of lift and my 31's rub plenty.

It all has to do with the width of the tire.

width of the rim always plays an important factor. with stock suspension my 31x10.50s on a 15x8 rim only grazed the inner fender at full lock, and by grazed i mean it just barely left a clean spot. to me thats not rubbing.. but each vehicle is different. that should be the disclaimer for this website 'each vehicle is different'

Thanks for the pic Four0Sport, IMO the 1.5" lift makes the tires look almost stock-ish. The space between the top of the tires and the bottom of the fenders looks similar to the way my X sits. I'm gonna try to take a pic of it tomorrow and post it up.

If you're going for 30's, save the money for other mods.

Some first gens can fit 31's with no rub, but it depends on the tire, too. Some brands make a 31 that's more like the size of a 30, others make a 31 that's either really big or fairly wide. A variety of small lifts are available, including the spacer/shackle budget lift for those who need to get rid of rubbing.

The bigger issue would be gearing. Rides with 3.27 or higher gears will have a tough time pushing 31's. Some first gen's came stock with 225/70R15s, so putting 245's or 30's on those is a fairly big change.

30's are essentially 245/75R15's, though.

oh man.. dont get me started on gearing. im runnin 3.27s with 31s, if i go with any bigger of a tire i feel like ill have to get out and push the truck to get it movin. gears and tires are my next big mods. when i have an extra 1500 bucks laying around. : (

Well I was gonna take some pics today...but it started to snow and with 30+mph gusts I'm not going outside. But I did look at the tires quickly and they're 235s and I've got roughly 2 inches of space between the wheel and fender.
