I spent all day working on my exhuast redoing the intake a bit and such. Relocating my Oil filter, Then when I'm ready to go home, I start driving and it runs like trash, keeps dying, won't idle, whenever I let off the gas feels like its gonna die.

So I disconnect the MAF and it runs, runs poorly but runs. My O/D is out, I'm as fast as I was before the turbo, yuck I'm not happy at all. Why it even runs without it plugged in I have no Idea. Soon as I plug it in, it goes berserk. Looks like I'm in the market for a new MAF.

granatelli here we come!

mine runs without the maf connected.... has more power that way...well on mine anyway.... but it will idle rougher and the check engine light will be on.....

That sucks, i agree with MO_Guy, here comes the Granetaelliii (however you spell that damn word)

Yeah its gotta be the MAF, I took out the apten chip and drove around and it did the same thing, its driveable with it plugged in, for about 2 mins (the maf). Then it won't run at all. So i Just leave it unplugged and it runs fine, it just has no balls now. looks like i'll prolly be springing for a granatelli. Maybe I can talk em into giving me a discount or something if I stick a big sticker from them on my car, I mean I am the first turbo'd explorer right? Maybe, possibly.......

with the MAF unplugged it runs in a limp mode similar to Speed Density.

Are you getting a CEL with the maf plugged in?

Also, are there any bends in front of your MAF? That causes problems sometimes.

Well as of now, it's all kinda irrelevant.
Since at the run yesterday I sucked about 1,000 gallons of water into my engine.

It'll prolly be atleast 1-2 months before I get my car up and going again.

Been talking to my buddy who does all my work on my ex, and he said, that it would cost the same to replace my connecting rods/pistons with low compression, if my motor was the way it is now, or running. So I don't feel too bad. I wasn't gonna replace em, but i have to now. Optimistic look at it I guess. He also said if we just do it at his house, we can just rebuild literally every piece on it. He claims for about $4000 we could have it pushing atleast 400-450 horsies. But what do i know?

get ahold of Doug904 on this forum. he is the allknowing expert on 4.0 performance, and can get all kinds of stuff. he has built several forced-induction 4 liters, and will point you in a much better direction than we can.

personally, i would try to get compression ratio at or near 8:1. if someone makes one, get a boost/nitrous cam. run as much forged stuff that you can get ahold of. get an intercooler on ebay, and run ungodly amounts of boost. may not be your goal, but it would be mine.

and before you tear it all down, please get some pics of your current setup.
