SOHC Supercharger.....

I found this over on fordexplorer.net. Gives new hope for those of you looking for a supercharger for your SOHC. I guess EE has just been taking their time on this one.

the only bad thing is- i have been hearing about the "SOHC charger coming soon" thing since i got my X over a year ago. i know you guys want one bad, but it seems to me lower comp. pistons just isnt very bolt-on.

Yeah, I have no intentions of getting one simply because it is too involved. Also, by the time all is said and done it will be way to expensive and not as reliable. I dont like the idea of spending somewhere in the neighbor hood of $4000 for 100 HP and less reliability.

it would actually be more than that... he spent less because he did most of the work himself. you would have to have lots of machine shop time and that stuff costs BIG $$$.

For just help with my s/c install, I paid over $700. And that's only for 'bolt-on' work, not internal engine mods. When you think about it, I still paid less than $40 an hour (when most shops charge around $65). Even an "easy, bolt-on" project like the BBK kit took some time and $$$ to get installed.

i just saw in SUV magazine today with 3 ford explorers. i think two of them were late models, 2001, 2002, both SOHC and supercharged with a Kenne Bell "kit". i also found this: http://www.kenne-bell.com/superchargers.asp
the site does mention 91-99 4.0L explorers but not SOHC
