So I pulled mr engine today...rear cassette gone. I spun the enine to install the timing tool. Got both tools install on the right head. Loosed the sprocket bolt.

I got ahead of myself and did not put engine to TDC. Nothing moved as I had the tool in place. Guess I could put sprocket and tighten bolt, then find TDC and start again.

How do you know proper placement of right head...meaning how do you know its not 180 degrees off? There is no nub like on the left side to use as a reference

CMP sensor nub

The camshaft timing tool will only fit properly in the notches when the camshaft is positioned correctly for #1 piston on the compression stroke. The crankshaft should be at TDC. There are only enough tools to time one camshaft at a time. The timing nub on the left camshaft is not for timing the camshaft but to notify the PCM for compression or exhaust stroke. See the timing chain related threads in My Helpful Threads.
