Over the past five years, I have probably put five (+) fuel pumps in my truck. The last few pumps may have lasted less than 10,000 miles. This time, the ”no fuel” issue returned, but the pump still worked when connected directly to the battery. The problem….

The problem was the extension/adapter harness at the fuel sender, to accommodate the aftermarket pumps, was charred and melted; the electrical contact was greatly diminished. The fuel pumps lacked full electric current… The burned wire connections were deleted, and butt connection couplers were added. The truck roared back to life…

Maybe the current fuel pump will survive for 100,000 miles. Hopefully.

(@donalds had said that if the fuel pumps failed so quickly, there was very likely to be an electrical fault in the wiring…)
