Someone make the BEEP BEEP BEEP stop in reverse!

You can't disable it on a '98. Why do you want it disabled anyway? It only beeps five times when you start the car and the idiot light will turn off in one minute. The reason why the others want to disable them is because it chimes every 5 minutes and it tends to be annoying. But this is my opinion so you can do what you like.

Since I usually have Explorers as rentals I tend to shut off the beeping on those too. I believe this works on later model Escapes, X Sports, and the like. Here's the procedure:

NOTE: I AM NOT ENDORSING OR SUPPORTING NOT WEARING YOUR SEATBELT. THERE'S A REASON THIS FEATURE EXISTS.

If you don't want to go through this programming procedure, just push your seatbelt release button after starting the vehicle.

I don't endorse NOT wearing your seatbelt either. I'm always reminding my wife to wear hers.
It's just nice to know how to disable that annoying beep if you are working on your truck.

Pulled the plug under the drivers seat on my '99, that's all there is to it!

I wear my seatbelt habitually, but I start the car and let it warm up a bit before I buckle my belt. It'd be nice if it didn't beep for a minute while I was sitting there. Its not a big deal, it'd just be nice.
