Ok, I have a listing on Craigslist. It is just for 10.00. So, I've been talking to this guy for a couple of days via email, as well as phone. He finally come by a few minutes ago. I show him the item, I give a brief story as to why I do not need them any more, and he says "thanks" while presenting his hand to shake. I shake his hand, and he attempts to turn around. I firmly grip his hand and give a slight tug. I say, "OK, and the 10.00?". He laughs it off, and proceeds to leave. I follow closely behind, say "Wayne", and tell him these are not free. I am expecting 10.00 for these. He says, "Oh, these are not for free?". Um, no! "Oh, OK. Thanks then".

OK, what the hell just happened? Did he not understand the ad? Due to such a low cost value, and the time spent, was this his plan from the beginning? Here is what my ad says:

*item* - $10

These came with my *item* for my *car*. I never used them, and don't have plans to in the future. They are yours for the taking.

You don't think just because it says "yours for the taking", he was taking that literally do you? Well, none the less, I kept them, and as of right now I have not heard back from him. I just wanted to share the funny story that just happened. :D

PS: Sorry for being so secretive. I just don't want anyone thinking I am trying to be sly and posting an item of mine in hopes to sell on here. :) Oh, and if this needs to be moved to off topic, I will understand. :D

They are yours for the taking and he tried to. That is probably the only part of the ad he read. Many Craigslist users are not the brightest bulbs in the lamp of life. I was selling something and in the title section I had the price listed and my location. I received emails asking how much I was selling for and how far I was from places these people lived. My usual response to the how far question is www.mapquest.com. I never hear back from these people. I do have an email address that I use just for stuff like Craigslist and it always gets hit with BS from those stupid question asking people.

Yeah people read what they want to read, I've had a pair of mirrors for sale on CL and guy had me drive around town to meet at a half way point, so he gets there and wants both for the price of one :S

Doesn't surprise me. Craigslist is where the bottom-of-the-barrel bargain hunters lurk in hopes of getting everything they need and more for free. A ton of them simply spend their lives in front of the computer screen waiting for free items to appear so they can try and sell them for some kind of profit.

I've listed tons of stuff, but you have to be firm and hold out for people who are serious, and just pass on the hagglers who want everything for free or a few bucks.

I'd imagine it's even worse in a gigantic market like norcal.
