i just moved and durring the move my truck died :( i drove it 35 mins to a friends house on the way to the new house and when i went to go start it it didnt want to after enough throttle play i got it to start but it was VERY choppy pulsating the entire truck as soon as it droped to around 3.5-4k rpm and it wont stay started oil is fine i just changed it but my colant is brown doesnt smell like exhaust or anything sorta smells like oil just a bit but i cant tell :( i moved 40 mins ( out of my school district) and i need my truck to get to school so please respond asap its a 98 ford explorer sport its my baby i love it and i am praying its not the block/head gasket like i fear but its all pointing that way now :( i dont have the tools to pull the engine so price is a concern so if its more than a new car its not looking good for my explorer :(

Welcome to the forum!

Did your check engine light come on when it died? It could be a miss of sorts… Hopefully it is as simple as an ignition coil or something.

If the check engine light came on, I would get a code reader and pull the codes.

Also, when it started giving you trouble, did you notice any smoke coming from either the exhaust or your motor? Did it over heat?

Welcome to the site.

did you happen to buy gas just before the problem started?

Sounds like your Explorer overheated and blew a headgasket and/or the head. If the coolant looks like a milkshake and smells like burnt sulfur it could be your radiator that failed/cracked and mixed both fluids, likely to be head gasket though.

Was it overheating? Unlikely it's a head gasket or block unless it got hot. Can you give more details on what happened when it died? Where you driving in rain? In the mountains? Towing? Recently gone offroading? Ect ect
