I was offered 2 12" JL audio subs and a 700 watt amp today with the subs already in a box for $250. Which sounded like just what I have been looking for. I do not yet know if they are used but i would be willing to bet they were. If so, can i take something like that up to best buy to get them to install it or should I go to CKR and have them install it? Thanks

It all depends on what amp and what subs they are. They might be low end JL subs with a 700W peak amp, in which case the guy was trying to fool you as theyre not worth $250. You should find out the model numbers of everything first and check prices. Buying used subs is liek buying a used sports car, you KNOW it's been ran hard. Nobody buys subwoofer to not play them loud and hard.

As far as installaion goes, Best Buy or Circuit City should install them for you for a nominal fee.

Well I just found out they are not used, and i don't know what kind of amp it is or the model of the subwoofers. Either way it should be plenty enough for my taste. I'm looking for some umph, not to shatter the windows.

It also might be a $150 set up is all. JL Audio makes some cheap entry level subwoofers as well, and if the amp is 700W max then chances are its very cheap as well.

For $250 you can get quite the nice set of subs and amp off crutchfield with a warranty, free shipping, and 30 days cash back guarantee.

Crutchfield is a good idea to go to if you want to compare different equipment and see what works for your X, but if you want to get good prices, go to www.shopper.howstuffworks.com. There, you can find what you wanted from crutchfield, and they show you who sells them at the lowest prices (Crutchfield is usually on the higher end). dicountjungle.net usually sells em the cheapest.

I know this post does't really fit with this thread, but with people always talking about crutchfield, i just wanted to get my 2 cents in.
